A Fresh Approach to Cuisine

Every meal is a true delight at Lough Eske Castle, a Solis Hotel. Though different in atmosphere and ambiance, Cedars Grill Restaurant and the Gallery and Oak Bars celebrate the Irish love of food, drink, and good cheer.

Cedars Grill Restaurant combines easy going elegance with a very modern sense of style. The dining room itself is quite stunning with its floor to ceiling, button back upholstery and modern crystal light fixtures. Glass doors open onto a slate terrace - a delightful place to linger and admire the manicured lawns and woodland views that surround Lough Eske Castle.

The Gallery Bar and Lobby Lounge offer more casual dining options where guests can enjoy food served from noon till late, Afternoon Tea or the Castle's prized Chocolate Buffet on a Sunday in summer while enjoying the dulcet tones of Jazz from our resident band.

With a hushed ambiance and rich leather furnishings, the Oak Bar feels like an exclusive club – ideal for private gatherings and special occasions.

 

Lough Eske Castle hosts “Taste of the region vol II”

This Festival of local culinary talent is taking place on Sunday 11th of March from 4-8 pm.

This is a food journey through all parts of the Castle with authentic Irish live music

Participating restaurants are:

Harveys Point, Castle Grove, Smugglers Creek, Castle Murray House and Village Tavern

€50 per person including a welcome drink.

Dine at Lough Eske Castle this Easter

This Easter enjoy some fine dining and activities at Lough Eske Castle.

A sumptuous Easter Themed buffet lunch will be served in our Ballroom  - 4pm. Adult-€35 . Children’s menu available and priced at €1 per child’s age from 2years at €2 to 12years at €12.

Our popular Chocolate Buffet will be re-launched on Easter Sunday. This is an all you can enjoy chocolate buffet full of decadent chocolate treats from 2- 5pm. €10 for adults & €4 per child.

A special Easter Themed Bar Food Menu is available in the Gallery Bar from noon to 9pm.

The ever popular Solis Sunday Jazz Session will recommence in the Lobby Lounge on Easter Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. The perfect background sounds to enjoy the delights of our Chocolate Buffet, our scrumptious Afternoon Tea or a long cocktail in the Gallery Bar.

Traditional Irish Afternoon Tea highlighting Irish produce, teas novelty cakes is served from 2 - 5pm. €22 per person. €29 per person with Champagne.

An Easter Themed Menu is available in Cedars Restaurant from 6 - 10pm. Early bookings from 5pm available for families. Children’s menu €8 main course and €4 dessert.

Philipp Ferber - Executive Chef

The management of Lough Eske Castle, a Solis Hotel & Spa are delighted to introduce Michelin star trained Philipp Ferber as its Executive Chef.

Philipp, whose apprenticeship was spent working in a number of Michelin star restaurants across Germany, is raising the bar further on the already sumptuous cuisine at Donegal’s only five-star hotel with a new menu comprising spectacular dishes that celebrate the stunning local produce of this area.

Philipp's life-long love of food stems from his boyhood watching his grandfather cheffing in his restaurant in the Blackforest Mountains. He trained in a number of Michelin Star restaurants in Germany and the Middle East, including the famous Restaurant Margaux in Berlin, The Briedenbacher Höf Hotel and the gourmet restaurant Soel’ring Hof where he worked with award winning chef Johannes King.

During the past eight years, Philipp has used his Michelin star training and love for local fresh ingredients to create dishes for the great and the good, among them George Clooney, Tom Jones, Latoya Jackson and rock back AC/DC. He has also had the pleasure of having none other than global star P!nk join him in his kitchen to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner for her 80-strong tour team.

Philipp firmly believes that watching his grandfather turn simple local ingredients into delicious meals fit for any table, gave him his love of working with local produce and this is very much reflected in his new menu at the multi-award winning hotel. Examples include Inver Bay brown crab cakes, fennel and apple slaw and grilled Gin Valley Chicken Breast. Diners are spoiled for choice; for example, for their steaks they are able to choose not just the cut but also the breed – locally produced Hereford or Angus. Diners also get to savour new interpretations of classic Irish cuisine, ranging from Philipp’s Frozen Tyrconnell Irish Coffee dessert - an espresso and whiskey parfait, warm white chocolate foam and caramel crisp.
